Most people would recommend AEM Cold Air Intake. I'd reccommend a three inch short ram with a cold air extension(or Comptech Icebox if you have money). The short ram performs better in top end since air doesn't have to travel as much(as far as my knowledge goes).

i would go cai, huge difference, usually on a civic the intake is enclosed pretty well and a bypass valve is not as nessessary, though i don't have a bypass i would consider getting one, just for that extra assurance that you won't hydrolock.....only like 30 bills extra too

three years on mine...havent had hydrolock yet. here in ohio when it rains it rains a ton and puddles up. never once have i had a problem. one of my friends locked but it was cause of his own stupidity driving in a ditch that everyone knew was window high, that right there he had more problems with the water cooling his block and cracking it before it could hydrolock but in all i wouldnt sweat it. cai are a nice thing, so are the ice box's if u like something a little quieter

I like the AEM. No problems, performs well, and screams like a SOB.. Comptech Icebox is also really nice, quieter and no worries about hydrolock. I would definitely look into the new AEM V2. I think it will perform well..

I have an Iceman CAI....works great, nice gains (see link in sig, go to MENU then DYNO to see plots of D16Z6 and B16A2)......I did hydrolock the SOHC VTEC engine, but had it for 4 years without problems prior to that. Just don't drive through lakes
Otherwise, good investment for the $$. Of course you can make your own.....thats a cheap and proven deal.

i've had my cai for 2 years, and i live in portland where it rains about 7 days a week. no hydrolock unless the intake tube is completely submerged in water.

If you must, get an AEM cold air and cut it somewhere in the middle, as you would if installing a bypass valve. Throw one of those rubber butt joints? ( the same thing that holds it to the throttle body) on their and move your filter depending on the weather.
Edit: Go with AEM over Comptech all that money isn't worth the minimal gains, if I did it over I'd go with the Ebay special

Tha V2 is sick on an EX and DX........i havent seen any dynos on an Si but they compared the V2 to the CAI and there was a noticible improvement & smoothing of the power/torque curve........4-6 horses in some areas but ive also got a 99 Si and which ive had for 2yrs with an AEM CAI and its sick......i had a short ram b4 and i can honestly tell u the difference is crazy/ no hydrolock probs eitha and when it rains it pours in Florida
