I started up my hatch today and the battery check light was on and when I headed up the street it was making a strange noise like there was something rattling inside of my header or block. Now for the past few days, my fan belt was squeaking like a mother ****** and I was gonna fix it today but it stoped squeaking totaly but now I have this odd rattling sound. Like this morning the idle would go up then putter down with the rattling noise and the car would almost die then jump back up. I know it's not much info to work off of but if anyone has experienced similar problems i'd appreciate suggestions or tips. Thanks.

yes the light is still on, I had the swap done about 6 months ago from a 2000 jdm si so I am assuming its 4 years old

try swapping the alternator with a known good one bc i bet thats the prob

Is it a spiratic rattle or more of an even clicking? (P.S. This IS relevant)

Sounds like maybe the squealing belt finally shredded and wrapped around a pulley. As it's spinning around a pulley it's probably slapping against something. Just an idea.

Does it click when you turn? Does it Take a long time to Hit Vtech? Do you Lose power when you accel? It can be alot of things... Try in give some more details on When and Where you hear the noise. Thanks
