b16a2 --> 93 EX

b16a2 --> 93 EX
Originally I wanted to swap a b18b for its simplisity and cheapness. Well, after looking around the only resonable swaps I could find were around 2k. And after the recent posts about b18b vs b16 threads ive started considering a b16.
Since the b16a2 are 99+ I think they have a knock sensor or something. So, what would I need to do to get a b16a2 int a 1993 civic EX. Also Is there any difference in swapping in a usdm or jdm motor? I know the wiring harness is different but would my 93 civic one work?
Thanks... and this isnt a b18b vs b16 thread so please dont make it one.

Re: b16a2 --> 93 EX (PUSHER)
Your not going to find a b16a2 complete for about $2k. You can get a SIR2 for that price.
Swapping a b16a into your car will be a breeze, you will only need to add the knock sensor wire if you use the dohc ecu.

jdm b16a (sir2) is the same as usdm b16a3
the b16a3 and sir are obd-1
your car is obd-1.
the b16a2 is obd-2
all jdm b16a's say b16a only they don't have number designations like the usdm engine have....
jdm sir1 is 88-91
jdm sir is 92- on up
usdm b16a3 is out of a del sol vtec
usdm b16a3 is out of a 99-00 civic si

since you sound new to all of this (like me same swap in the works) id just bolt it in with the stock mounts and shift link that comes with the motor . then order the wire jumper's from hasport there like 70 and worth every penny from what ive heard

generally they don't come with mounts. i've heard of people using the stock civic mounts, i've also heard of people having problems with using stock mounts. I am using integra mounts and everything went in with no problem..It's a good idea to use integra mounts because they are stronger then then civic mounts and the b16 will be putting down a little more power and it also weighes a little more

Re:
It will be plug and play. You will only need to add that one wire for the knock sensor if you are running a (p30 ecu). YOu can chip out your ecu and won't have to worry about hooking up the knock sensor. If you get an obd1 b16 swap, everything will connect right up.

Still confused =P
Alright, so if i get a jdm b16(sir2) swap. I have to use my civic harness(jdm wont work because of rhd). And if I use the ecu the swap comes with I wont have to add a knock sensor? Someone just clarify the way to put this swap into my car without having to add a knock sensor wire. I'm sure its not hard to add the wire, but this wiring stuff has me stumped.

Re: Re: (PUSHER)
really i think that the jumper harness is a waste of money , I put a 00'b16a2 in to my 94 eg, used obd1, and bought a chipped p28. Yes the wiring was a bit tricky, but over all the swap was easy. I just cut and soddered all the wires together, dropped the knock sensor, added the vtec and vtec pressure, no crank angle sensor, cut the injectors, used the b16a2 linkage and mounts, with the eg mount ends on the bottom and bang done and done. So if you think your somewhat compentent in doing some wiring use the money that you would waste on the jumper and put it towards some cams, or the skunk2 retaniers. that's what i did and the car go's like stink. 14.20 all day and I wont tell you how it is on nos, cause it CRAZY..................

So I'm assuming you had a 93 dx/cx because you had to add vtec wires. So if I got a SIR2 I would just have to lengthen some wires and would I have to wire up a knocksensor and use the SIR2 ecu?

Re:
i have a 94 cx, and had to run vtec wires... you may have to add extra or extend the o2 sersor(but I'm not sure) i had to on mine but i have usdm b16. and yes you would have to add knock sensor if you don't use a chipped ecu (p28-p30).....
