Default B16A1-------In A 97 civic

What are the opinions on a B16A1 in my 97 lx? It is a hell of a lot cheaper than the A2. I know it is from a much older car but I figured with the money you save you could rebuild it with upgraded internals/ CM clutch and lightened flywheel/ turbo it / Or just plain save money. I know you would need an OBD2 to 1 adapter, but what else would you need? I currently have an Auto tran. that I a swapping out for a Man. Or would I be better off with, say a b18b ?, looking for something that is not gonna rape my wallet, as for I have a wife, 1 son and another on the way (hoping for a girl) .......Thanks in advance.

b16a1 comes with a cable tranny, and to convert over to obdII will be a pain!

I think I am just gonna say screw it a buy the A1 engine.
Maybe build it up before the install. Arias pistons ? crane cams ? and the proper adapters of course......and just make that work for me.
