Default B16A1

hey guys,

i posted earlier about the vtec head and am leading more for the B16A1 now..

is this a reliable engine considering the age of it.. I think its 89-91 sir. would this be a safe swap into a 92 civic hatch?? and i think its a cable tranny instead of hydralic, will this cause any problems??

your 2 cents would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Blair

to further assist you with your question, the cable tranny will not be a good idea....you have two options with a b16a into an eg....you can buy the hydro-to-cable tranny kit (+-$200) and install that way, or you can sell the cable and TRY to find a hydro bseries tranny for the b16

IMO, i wouldnt do it.....you wont see VERY significant gains with the b16a, considering it's probably gonna have close to 100k miles on it......if it was me, i'd just go the cheaper route....LS, or you could pay a little more for a b18c1 or c5

ps. welcome to honda-tech

pps. thanks spoon for the correction, i forgot about the A3

It will be fine we put a bunch of 1sst gen's into egs and even ek's with or with or witout the cable tranny and never has a problem with them.

But then again we do replace all the seal, thermo, wate pump, timing & alt. belts. And we even change out the clutch.
