Default b16a Won't start after headgasket swap

I have a 96 ek with the jdm b16a, and p30 ecu, and put a new headgasket in at school. I got it all back together, crank and cam timing is all aligned, belt is tight, distributor is all correct, but when i start it, it fires up a little, sputters, then dies

If i keep my foot on the throttle, i can keep it running, but really poorly, and as soon as i take my foot off, it dies again.

Anyone have a similar issue, or know where i could start to diagnose this?

Re-check the timing. I had a problem like that and the timing was just way off. Just double check the crank is at tdc and the cams are aligned right. With stock cam sprockets of course there is a arrorw that says up and two markes on either side. Just make sure the arrows are up and the lines match up correctly with crank at tdc.

Yah, i torqued and un torqued every bolt in sequence from the manual, and i had my shop teacher check all the timing for me, every mark is aligned correctly.

found out the IACV was unplugged, so i put that in, and it'll just about idle now, wants to die though. giving it a little throttle and it holds fairly solid, but any revs over 2500 and it kills it

CEL 14 (iacv) and 20 (eld) but 20 has always been there, and isn't an issue at this point. Clearing codes now, thanks for the help so far though
