B16a w/ OBD issues into a 5th gen
This was posted in the Hybrid forum, but I figured I'd get a quicker response here
Is it really that much of a hassle to wire up a B16a2 from an newer Si and deal with OBD-2 that I should go with the SiR II motor or the B16a3?
I can get either or for the same price, and I was looking forward to gettting a fresher motor, but should I avoid OBD issues at all costs?
Thanks

with either motor you'll have to change the the dist and the injectors.. but if u use a 0bd2 wire harness fora 96 up teg it will plug into the b16a2 (99-00 civic si) adn u won't have to change anything, i think? but with the fisrt gen b16a will have to change those things i mentioned i would change the manifol on the first gen also they suck and the throttle body is smaller then any other b series motor...

i would recomend getting the sirII, you can resuse your SOHC vtec harness and everything will plug right up... if you go with the 99 si motor, you will have to get new injectors and dist(unless you rig it, also i've heard it will plug right in to the chassis, correct me b18c5-eh2) dont forget to hook up the knock sensor ....

THE FRESHIE MOTOR WOULD BE MY CHOICE
the wiring can be done in enough time. no way to turn the miles back as far as usage.... so stay with the newest motor
