b16a STILL overheating!!!!!
my b16a is still overheating. i got new sensors, new radiator (fan spins), but the damn sensor is still saying that my engine is hot even though when you touch it, it's cool as heck. anyone got anymore ideas i can try!!

wire up an actual temperature gauge that tells the degrees. You can get a cheapo one from WalMart for like 5 bucks, or get a nice autometer or VDO. Take your car to a radiator shop and they can tell you how hot your car is running, and if it is actually overheating or not. Is your overflow resevoir filling up or draining or anything at all?

i had a problem like that and it was because i had a bad ground wire. when i got the swap i didn't use to ground wire that goes on the valve cover. and the ground near the transmission was getting a bad connection. it would cause the temp. gauge to jump around and look like i was overheating. so make sure you have a good ground connection.

my resvoir isnt being drained at all, all the coolant still looks like its there. i generally would lrun the car for 5 min on the road (25-40 miles/hour) and then the temp would just skyrocket. i have my fan on and my radiator is giving the engine antifreeze, i just dont know why its sjkyrockets....

No, it wouldn't be thermostat or head gasket, because the fan IS coming on. If these were bad, hot water wouldn't be coming into the radiator, and cold water wouldn;t be going to the engine. Since the fan is turning on, that means hot water is coming through the radiator to cause the fan to come on. Check the grounds too. After you shut the car off, and turn the key "on"...does the temp still say that high? Or does it come down some?

Yeah, thermostat! When it gets hot stop and feel both upper and lower hoses. One will be hot and one will be cold if it's stuck closed. Mine is stuck open so it takes a while to get warm

Check if your fan is coming on...my fan wasn't coming on because the motor was gone and it would cause the engine to over heat when idling.

hey man i had that same problem and i got something you can try.
First off i am assuming that you are not losing any fluid(eg. inside the car from possibly bending the pipes that lead to the heatercore) just check to make sure that the carpets are not wet.
Secondly, with the engine cold remove the rad cap and start the engine. make sure the rad is full obviously and patiently watch for air bubbles starting to come up. As the bubbles come up the water level will go down and then add water to the rad again. Do this for about 30-60min with the heater off and the heater temp set to cold.(the fan should take quite awhile to come on but it will eventually) Then turn the heater on full blast and the water level should drop again. continue to fill the rad. *make sure you have someone watching the temp though because it gets scary constantly having to go back and worth from the rad to the inside of the car. Do this with the heater on until the fan turns on again and then you will be set.
i bet its just air that you have inside your motor
anyways goodluck and let me know if that works or not

the gauge could be broken because that is what happened in mah cuz accord the gauge juss flew up to hot when we started the car...

see if you can swap clusters with a friend, that solved my problem and I found out the needle in my temp guage was sticking a bit on the guages shaft, so it was mis-reading the motor as HOT.

i would check the thermostat. not hard to do, just get a good cooking thermostat, and put it in a pot with some water along with the thermostat from the car and put it on the stove. see what temp it opens (or doesn't open) at.

Don;'t waste all that time swapping clusteres until you know that's it. Like I said before: Take it to a radiator shop and they can see how hot you are ACTUALLY running. They usually do this for free and you can know for SURE- then you can swpa clusteres/stat/whatever!

it COULD possibly be the thermostat sticking, although you did replace it, very rarely are they bad. Take it out, and stick it in boiling water and hold it with a string. It should start opening around 165 degrees I believe. Stop by a radiator shop and have them temp you!!
