If you already have the b16a in it I would just stick with that. The cost to now get an LS block and do the conversion, and make it reliable... you could just build the b16 and get around the same HP figures. The b16 has a better rod/stroke ratio so it is more rev friendly.

well ud have to get an ls block, and if you want it to be reliable throw vtec pistons in it and get/install the vtec conversion kit, imo its more trouble than its worth. if ur gonna spend money buy a gsr bottom end and build a poor mans R

If he was building a "poorman's type-r" then a GSR head would not be the one to use, as both the b18c5 and the b16b use a b16 head.

Re: b16a or ls vtec with b16 head
I did an LS/Vtec on my car and turbo'd it. Everybody has a different opinion, but either one a Poor mans type R or an LS/Vtec will be a good build to do over the b16a. There is a chart on here somewhere showing that the Pr3 head and the P72 Head both flow bout the same. The Gsr head makes more compression, and the Pr3 head looses compression, that's the reasoning for putting type r pistons or b16 pistons in the Gsr for the poor mans type r.
