Re: (Jimmy)
He is probably talking about how he tell the difference in the years.
Other ways:
OBD0 (86-91) The wiring harness has clear or whiteish connectors
OBD1 (92-95) The wiring harness has grey connectors
OBD2 (96 -present) The wiring harness has grey connectors but black injector clips
There are a few other way, But I am tired tonight

Re: (turbogixxer)
DOHC is bigger on first gen, VTEC is bigger on Second gen
btw- whats the purpose of posting a link to the search menu. i mean really, if you don't like his post then don't reply to it. i'm pretty sure thats in the forum guidlines somewhere. you're suppose to post links to the answer and not to just the search page. it's ppl that post links to the searchpage that make honda-tech a heaping load of crap sometimes

Re: (DOHCtorTHRUST)
look at the block ID:
if the number below B16A begins with:
1. 1...then it's a first generation b16a w/ cable transmission
2. 5...then it's a second generation b16a w/ hydro transmission
hope that helps.
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">DOHC is bigger on first gen, VTEC is bigger on Second gen</TD></TR></TABLE>
this is true, but valve covers are interchangeable.
i believe USDM EK b16a has the B16A4 imprinted on it.

If you just have the block, you can convert it either way.
