Just lurk around the FI and NA forums for a little while, get an idea of what's out there. One good plan of attack, is to consider exactly what you want to use your car for? For example, road race, drag race, daily driver, weekend warrior, etc, and determine what kind of power it's going to require, the price and reliability will always play a role as well.
