B16A EK Hatch Idle/High rev Problems. HELP!!
it has a bad idle, it goes from 200-1000 and 1000-1500 it doesnt do it all the time. & some times vtec kinda flickers when it comes on like it will come on at 5700 then it will go off at like 6500 sometimes it doesent come on sometimes it works til 7 then engine breaks up. weve tried replacing the fuel pump and the IACV and the problem still persists. the ECU is a Virgin P28 and the B16A was pulled from a JDM EG SiR Clip with like 50k miles
Thanks in advance

LMAO Yeah its your ECU. A virgin P28 is to run a D16Z6 not a JDM B16A. Get that thing chipped and you should be fine. That would be my first thing of doing. Or try a Sol ECU or maybe GSR just for the heck to see if any change.

Re: (StreetRacinThug)
its my friends car, im not 100% sure if its a fully virgin p28, it might be converted, the guy who works on the car knows alot about this kind of stuff and couldnt figure out the problem either, but the car used to run fine like for 2 months after the swap, this problem just started like 3 weeks ago almost after we put the motor back in after a clutch change.
right at like 7 grand the motor like starts to break up and it idles really funny, and weve tried 3 different IACV's, checked the fuel pressure, and regulator and replaced the pump.

Re: (StreetRacinThug)
its not the ecu...i had a virgin p28 run a b18cR for a bit until i could get it chipped...
to me, its a vacuum leak...only explanation for the irradic idling problem...
haha its actually happening to me and thats what we diagnosed and solved, just need to cover up that hole...

Re: (SLoWpOkECiViC)
we just changed the clutch anf got the flywheel polished up, put the motor back in and thats when i think we started having problems, not 100% sure though. were thinking it could be bad injectors, i read somewhere it will cause the engine to idle weird and surge at high RPM's if you have too big or too small injectors or if theire not functoning right.
ill ask him about the vacc leak, theres been 2 diferent well knowledged people who have looked over the engine and im sure theyd notice a simple vaccum leak when they did but who knows, well give it a shot.
Thanks

sounds like you might have achipped ecu. sometines the map/chip that is installed in the ecu doent run well with the motor and sometimes it will have a eratic idle

WHY ARE YOU YELLING.
Sometimes the most trivial of problems are caused by the simplest things, check for vaccum leaks and check your oil level (for the vtech prob).

ive told him to go get his injectors flow tested locally, just to knock out some factors
