i have in there right now, tomorrow it is coming out for a lsvtec swap. it is for sure a horsepower gain and vtec is always awesome to have, but if you have some kind of money to play with i would rather go with a b18 instead of b16, the b16 is just sooo weak in torgue and power on the bottom end. just my 2 cents

A b16 isn't bad, but the first gen will come with the cable tranny so you'll need to get a kit to make it work.

I have a b16a, and i am strictly a crx guy. But i cant find a new one, and i need a new shell ASAP. So i would pick up an EG as a temporary alternative. I dont plan on buidling a motor because "b16's aren't good for starters." My questions is more or less, is it worth putting a first gen with cable tranny into the car. Is there any problems i may run into doing this.... And i am very happy with my torqueless wonder by the way Little help from a t3/t4.

I just dont see why you would spend an extra $1800 for 10 more hp and a bit more torque. For that price you have a quality turbo kit waiting ot be installed.

Back to topic: Is it that hard to change the car to a cable tranny?

first, i know almost nothing about the b series.....
second, is it true that an itr tranny is a b16b with a lsd and a different final?
third, is it true that an itr head is just a b16 head with some work done?

first.....i know alittle....not everything
second...depends on the year of the tranny....
b16b tranny is a 4.4 final drive tranny with lsd (not sure of gear ratio's)
b18c5 pre 98 tranny's are 4.4 with lsd
b18c5 after 98 are 4.785 with lsd (reason being they went with 16 rim package (this is only for JAPAN 98 or newer itr tranny's, US tranny's remained 4.4 with lsd and a closer 4th and 5th gear))

third YES a b18c5,b16b and b16a heads are from the same casting (PR3) some of the earlier C5 heads were hand ported and polished and flowed better (from the factory) but later C5 (newer) were done on the CNC or by a machine

hope that helps
