Default b16 top dead center sensor

my car the showing the code 08 and its the tdc sensor. i think its making my motor bog down when im just cruising. i have to step on it to keep my speed at a steady speed limit like 65mph. Can this sensor make my vtec not work when the engine light is on? my vtec doesnt work when the engine light is on.

it would cause it too stop working yeah. And i wouldent be putting the foot down either, you would only cause more harm than good. replace that sensor or make sure there isent a break in the wire. iv noticed in 3 civic distributors the insulation cracks and falls away

You typically replace the entire distributor housing in order to fix a problem with a distributor sensor.

the wires seem fine, the check engine light only comes on when the engine is warmed up. when im cruising in gear i will not come on but then when i idle or in neutral it will come on. so i should get a new distributor or get new sensors..?
