b16 Swap. missing some items?
Hello, new to the boards here(and honda's for the most part) and i have a question. ive done alot of searching but i cant find a specific answer to my question.
i have a 2000 ex 5speed and i can get a USDM 2000 b16 with tranny for $1000. mileage like 60k. the motor is missing the wiring harness, fuel rail, injectors and ecu. that is the stuff i know i need to replace but what else would i need? since they made the b16 motor fit my chassis do i need to get new mounts or can i use the d16y8 mounts? do i need to get new axels are can i use the ones from my car?
i live in cali so i want to get this Bar'd. i have read the sticky on BARing a car in cali and i know the motor needs to be the same year or newer so thats why im getting this motor but since its missing a few things im wondering if it matters what year the fuel rail and injectors came from? could i use a 99 b16 ecu since the models were 99-00 and were exactly same or are they **** about it and even though its the same it needs to be 2000 ecu, fuel rail, and injectors?
also, since i have to get the missing items is this still a good deal? $1k sounds cheap to me but im not sure how much the little extra things will cost and then i spend like 2k when i could have waited and maybe bought i Complete swap for a lil less.
can i hook up the a/c and ps? im almost positive i can cause i dont see why i wouldnt. would i have to get the a/c system recharged?
last thing. can i use my stock ex airbox to pass the state ref since the motor i would be buying wouldnt come with it? i do have an AEM CAI with a Carb EO number bought for the ex, but would that work with the b16 or would it have a diff carb #?
sorry for the long post but i just couldnt find the specifics i was looking for
p.s. and this would be getting an Edelbrock Turbo kit a few months after since its nice and smog legal cause CHP knows their ****

Re: (gtz)
I will NOT give you any misinformation so I will only tell you what I know for sure.
I am NOT sure if you can use the y8 axles, but I know you'll need B16 mounts for sure. You also may need the shift linkage if im not mistaken.
You CAN use the ECU, injectors, fuel rail, etc.. from the 99 b16.
And I think a G for the longblock/trans and the few other things you got was a pretty good price man. Surely someone else that knows thier **** can tell you EVERYTHING you can reuse and exactly what you will need to replace.
Good luck bro, are you planning on the install yourself or a shop? If you're doing it yourself, start a buildup thread so people can follow your progress and learn from it.

yeah, my friends are mostly honda guys so i would do it with their help but im on vacation in New York right now so im just trying to gather info cause im probably picking up the motor as soon as i get back to SoCaL. i would be more then happy to post up a build on the swap but it seems like something that would have been done a million times before.
any more info would be appreciated.

y8 axles will not work, since it doesnt use an intermediate shaft.
Things i remember youll need
Axles
ECU
SI Mounts
Wiring Harness
Shift Linkage
make sure you have the evap purge solenoid on the intake manifold.

Re: (chillis)
no you cant use y8 axles....however any axles from the 94+ integra and 99-00 si axle will work
you can keep power steering and ac just need the b series brackets
since your stock motor is a sohc vtec im pretty sure you can use your stock harness and ecu
fuel rail and injectors will be needed from 99-00 si
