B16 rebuild low pressure, good clearance
Hello,
I just rebuild my engine, it's a B16A2 (EDM DOHC Vtec from an EG6) swap in an EJ2 where was done:
Full engine gasket honda
Acl stock bearing
Water pump and timing belt
Hastings piston ring
Skunk2 valve stem seal
Valve grinding
The cylinder where honed with a simple drill hone, just a little as I already see the original cross pattern.
The oil light is blinking when the idle drop to 650rpm (breaking and steering), so I think about an oil pressure problem
I just recently installed an oil pressure and It showed:
400kpa when cold
150-200kpa at about 2500rpm when warm
10-30kpa at idle 800rpm when it is warm..
Here is the engine noise when it's really cold, it's amplified, we can't here that so loud for real, the sound could be hear more by the wheel driver side..
Here is one when warm :
From inside:
Yeah i also got an alternator issue.. 14.6V stable but still blinking..
Where could came that oil pressure issue?
I read that it could lead from a spun bearing, but that noise is from the first start so I don't know, everything was good as I can measure it.
Thanks for your help

Re: B16 rebuild engine ticking
Hi,
for the break in, nothing fancy, a calm driving for 20-30km then i change oil and the oil filter i used a simple bad brand 10W40 for this short part.
After that driving about 150km with a faster timing but not really hard, just try to don't stay at the same speed, only little road as i see in some "break-in topic", oil/filter change ( i could see really really fine particle like powder in the oil which is Castrol GTX10W40)
Then an other one after 400Km of multiple driving, i'm not driving really long road, it's city for 25%, the other part is again campaign.
The last one is after 600-700km i can't tell more precisely about it, i've never never give a real WOT a lot of time, it's not my type of driving and i'm still not confident into this engine( maybe that's a sign :D )
I got an iacv issue so it was running a 1000-800 rpm without the iacv for maybe 1 week.
@ RonJ, it's an EJ2.
Thank's

I was also thinking about the lma, that's the first gen one, it's ticking really loud as the engine is cold, couldn't hear it when warm but I think there is two noise, one coming from the timing belt side and another one under the valve cover.

Re: B16 rebuild engine ticking
Hello,
i came back with a new and 100% functional oil pressure gauge.
So at cold for the first start i only got like 4 bar at idle, and jumping down to 0.2 bar at idle when oil is at 80-84°C.
Know i didn't have anymore the vtec oil pressure code, it's 4.3bar in VTEC(only for test..) and didn't move up, i just recently change my oil pump .
As we can here from the first video, would it came from an spun bearing?
