Default B16 misfiring

Just had the ecu chipped and dyno tuned 2 weeks ago
Was running great to 8500 rpm when took car home on trailer (race car)
A week later at the race I noticed it busting up at around 7000
I put ngk plugs and wires on it

It still has a weird random misfire at any rpm it can randomly sound like a Wrx or could run clean till 7k and then bust up
Vtec IS engaging I hear it plain as day,
I've heard coil ignitor Injectors main relay , is there a way to troubleshoot instead of buying all those expensive parts ?
No dash so can't check for a cel
But I hear vtec engage which tells me likely
No cell

Start with replacing your cap and rotor. They're cheap. If you haven't replaced them with good, new, OEM pieces within the past year, just go ahead and do it.

I second this, that's where I would start ask a buddy to borrow his or go out and buy it and if that doesn't make a difference just return it and claim it didn't fit correctly I've done it they'll take it back no problem

Yes lots

I guess they are still dealerships, but they sell at wholesale prices to the public

what is your spark plug gap, and is this na or turbo, sounds like heat soak messing up your coil or ignitor if not plug gap

Got to looking at things closely today the distributor cap was missing two of the three screws that hold it on when I removed it the rotor button the screw that holds it in was missing also I don't know if this could cause it to do what I am saying but I am going to remedy the missing screws and see what happens

I had the same problem before and after I changed spark plugs I bought the expensive NGK plugs and it still does it

Actually yes it can cause you to misfire, had that happen to my sister when I forgot to tighten down the cap one time and she was freaking out.

Still skipping , put new rotor on
Compression check 180 across the board

Very random skip comes and goes at odd intervals
And busts up around 7k

Possibly have another distributor tonight

I was going to say check your coil and icm, check for old gas if the car sat for a while.

It's an OBD2 B series VTEC ECU. The cap makes me believe it's the distributor off a B16A2, but it doesn't really matter that much - B16 and B18C1 distributors are cross-compatible, as long as you stay within OBD range.

Also, your cap is missing it's top left screw. You should fix that before it causes you major problems.

So, you said you're running it up to 8500, which is past stock, so what all, exactly, do you have going on under your hood? What do you have your plugs gaped to?

And no FI, correct? I was thinking you might be blowing out the spark, but without FI, that's kinda hard to do...

What color is your spark?

What motor did you get the cap for?

Before you worry about replacing anything, you need to do some basic diagnostics. It would also be a good idea to get both of your threads merged.

So far I've changed the rotor new ngk plugs ngk wires
Couldn't change cap because none fit(even from honda)
Changed ignitor and the coil and it ran exactly the same
Did 3-4 test runs and then it went from a random miss to a full skip

I'm starting to wonder about the injectors
Not sure what else to try
