Default B16 Mini Cooper

I saw a mini with a b16 for sale today, they have them at http://www.gomini.com/fs/vtec/vtec.htm how cool is that. I also remember seeing a story about a baja buggy winning races with a b16. As if swaps for us aren't expensive enough every other joe wants one in his car too.

pretty cool.. I've never driven a mini.. I wonder if it's to much weight added to the front.. but does look good..but basically it's hell on wheels with a stock honda motor =P

I've been wanting to do that for years!!

But it's not cheap or easy.. That's why it never happened. It's not even close to being bolt in affair. But companies do make swap kits. Custom subframe, mounts, shocks, etc....i tihnk I read it was like 5000 for the swap kit.

But can you imagine a built b20 in a mini...omg....11second all motor street car...YES! I want it!

don't forget ther was a 1st gen crx with a b16 in it that used a nissan computer and distributor.. and ran 13.6 this was like 4yrs ago this was documented in TURBO mag.. so it is poossible to run a different distributor on the b16 .. but most likely if they did that they would need to run a different ECU and use either a manual vtec switch or some type of nitrous module to run the vtec

Don't know about this particular car, but they've been doing this swap for years in England, and have developed kits to make the fit easier. Might include a new distributor.

I saw a video of a guy w/ a white Mini running low 12's with a stock b16a! The b20 is too tall to fit under the hood from what i've heard. I've got a few friends with old Minis that have looked into it. Those things don't weigh anything! 1400lbs or so?...

Looks like there might be room for a JRSC in there...Mini running in the 10s on street tires...that would kick ***. Imagine smoking a Vette or a Porsche in that! I love the old Minis...wish I could find/afford one.

I spoke to a friend of mine who has a mini...and he sais that the B16a is actually lighter than the engine which is already in the mini!
