b16 mani vs skunk 2
Which one you prefer?
Its a quick review, I'm getting a tune and I'm wondering which one is worth going with. what i got is ctr cams i/h/e about it. in a b16a2 |
Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
keep the stock b16. from what i hear, you only gain like 2-5 whp with the itr/skunk 2 im. and there have been tests on this with b20v users and they said the b16 im was good.
what headers you using? exhaust size, cai? did you upgrade the injectors and do you have a FPR/FRG im doing a very similar setup, thinking of grabbing one of those rmf replica narrow header |
Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
P30 makes more power across the power band than after market models i've seen on the dyno
Get the manifold extrude honed and make even more |

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
stock b16 for fine tuning..

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
anyone else? bump

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
The Skunk2 isn't really much different than the stock B16 IM. Just stick with stock or look at something different like the Edelbrock Victor X

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
if you tune with the skunk2 IM, won't you get more power than a stock b16? Does the SK2 have longer runners?

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
will im only using my income tax money and that's almost all done so i can get a new mani.
The sk2 do have a longer runner. I need more vote. So far its to close. |

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
i have the sk2 mani already and im not into buying a new mani, i want to know which one is better the stock or sk2!

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
There has been so many arguments on H-T over the years about this. If you have the skunk2 just use that, the tune will dial it in. As far as getting the stock one extrude honed, that would be a waste as this would just make it near a skunk2 manifold. If these guys hit 9... seconds before their Pro series stuff came out, obviously they have done enough research into fluid dynamics and air flow to do something right.

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
unless you're running higher comp pistons, run the stock IM.
|
Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
unless it's a more extreme race type build, run stock manifold.

Re: b16 mani vs skunk 2
I know this post is old this is my experience,
The skunk2 is by far better than the stock b16 intake manifold. The skunk2 give you more on the lowend and midrange plus when you replace the manifold you have to retune the ecu because your Fuel/Air is going to be different than with the stock b16 intake manifold. The only best way to tell the difference between the both manifolds is to have your motor stock and just swap both manifolds on a dyno and see the difference they make but you will see in the end results as the skunk2 manifold will be far better than the b16 period. Thats my experience as i have tested both on a dyno and retune the car for both intake manifolds. I have even seen bigger and better performance with the skunk2 manifold when use on a built N/A motor and boosted motor. |
