I wouldnt downgrade to a LS trans. Short gear ratio is alot better. If you wanna get the best, get a ITR trans, as it has pretty good balance of gear ratio and has LSD

GSR or B16 if you're not looking to spend a whole lot. But I definitely wouldn't go down a step by getting an LS tranny.

yea you can change out the gears....but the questions that should be asked is

why do you want to change the trans? What's your reason for this?

Better gas mileage? or cause you want something to do? or u wanna be faster?

are you going N/A or turbo? IMO if your going turbo get the LS coz it has longer gears than the b16 trans. Plss correct if im wrong about this.

Base what I read over the years even a GSR might be a bit to short for 1st and second gear, I say LS.

gsr and ls trans have the same first and second gear but with differend final drives. The gsr of course is geared lower.

The b16 trans has the shortest gears out of the three with the same final drive of the gsr. Short gears = faster acceleration.

All tranny's in 5th gear @ 8500rpm with a 23.4" tire

B16 ~158.6mph
GSR~ 170.9mph
LS ~ 194.3mph

All tranny's in 5th gear cruising at 70mph with a 23.4" tire

B16 ~ 3752rpm
GSR~ 3482rpm
LS ~ 3063rpm

Just to give you a idea of your cruising speed and your top speed. If the b16 trans dont let you get enough speed in 5th then i think you need somethin other than a civic to go fast
