you say it lowers compression but then say no compression will be lost?

Okay so the B16 head flows a bit better stock than the GSR head, but the GSR head will up compression due to the smaller combustion chambers?

Okay here's my big question,
would the B16 head on B18C1 bottom end with Type R internals be better than a complete B18C1 with Type R internals? (better = more power)

The flow basically the same, and make basically the same hp

not to mention last i checked the p30 IM is way better then a GSR IM. which you'd have to use with a GSR head.

B16 wins. which is odd i kinda figured a b18 with a polish would do better not by much but none the less.

How do you figure the b16 wins?
So what, the gsr needs a certain type of manifold, is it really that big of a deal?

Im with these two. This post is some shocking revelation
+1 almost all internet sites about frankies says that pr3 flows better..

Does it matter what b16 your talking about? I know we are pin pointing the b18c1 usdm gsr head but does the b16 not need pin pointed as far as one head in particular?

This is beating a dead horse.
The B16 flows better, yes. But, the amount is very minor in the practical world.
The GSR head yields a little more compression, which if you're building a motor anyway, isn't that big of a deal.

Why did Honda use the PR3 head on the ITR? None of us have a definitive answer, but we can speculate. OK, it flows a little better. The intake manifold is more well suited to top end power. On the other hand, the P72 head would have allowed them to run a little more aggressively due to having the quench pads. They were porting it anyway, so the flow isn't that big of a deal. There was already a single stage gsr intake manifold, or so the legend goes. At the very least, this would have been a simple design change. Maybe they had a surplus of PR3 heads, I don't know.

The best would be the Type R head complete with cams, if I need to tell you why I am wasting my time. Over the B16 and GSR as it is said over and over in this thread the B16 head flows better but not by much and in the real world on a dyno they will make the same power. GSR cams are slightly better than B16 cams as they have a much better mid range and a slightly better top end. I like the B16 head GSR cam combo for a mild build. Use what ever head you can find complete and in good shape, be it a B16 or GSR head. I personally lean to the B16 head but that is JMO.
Way to bring back a old thread and a already well covered topic.
