B16 head same as ITR?
I was just wondering if the casting is the same, I thought I had heard they are the same casting just the type R has some porting from the factory. If they are the same would a B16 VTEC head fit right on a type R block? Any information you guys can provide is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes they are both stamped PR3. The head will bolt directly up to the block. A common build is called the Poor-Man Type R. Its a B18C GSR block with a B16A head.

Yes, they are the same cast, and head for head, make within about 4hp from each other. The differences are: (on the type r)
- a very mild polish job
- dual valve spring on both intake and exhaust valves
- valves are slightly lighter, and have a different cut for higher flow
