B16 getting ready for boost
I apologize if any of these are lame questions, I'm a noob to the Honda game. I'll explain: last year I bought a 93 delsol B16A2, it had aspiration work done, minor engine work and a **** ton of rice on it.
So I've decided to de-rice my car and go boost, but perhaps you guys could help me with a few questions about preparing my setup for a turbo:
I currently have Unorthodox cam gears and would like to get camshafts as well before I drop a turbo in. What are your opinions on buddy clubc spec iii camshafts with omni springs and retainers?
I've also switched to a Walbro fuel pump, but it's not the 255 lph model... can I expect any problems from that?
Thanks dudes.

Those cams are too aggressive for boost IMO.
No you won't expect many problems. I've seen 175whp on the stock 79lph, if you have the 190lph you're more than fine. Besides, your car came with the 135lph fuel pump.
HOwever, you are probably running pretty rich right now as the FPR is still at stock level, expecting the 135lph pump pressures.

Correct, there's too much valve overlap for boost. I see a lot of people with boosted B-series engines run GSR cams.

Woo, thanks for the help! GSR cams/springs/retainers should handle boost on the block fine but what about the head?
Is it necessary to open up the exhaust valves a little bit? I don't plan on running an insane amount of boost but I'd like to get the car kinda quick.

First off, look at the type of Tuning Buddy Club does .. all N/A circuit racing. so thats prob. not gonna be a good combo fo a turbo set-up. Check out Skunk2 TURBO cam shafts. But the real problem with turboing Hondas is the block. You gotta beef up the block or the cylinder walls are gonna go on you with the added boost. If you can barely afford the turbo in the first place .. wait till you see the cost to beef up the motor to handle it ..

Re: (TOP END MS)
I hope to go boost by the end of the summer so I have time to save up money.
When you say beefing up the block, I assume you mean forged internals and the like? What other stuff should I be looking to get? Again, sorry for the newbness of all this...

He mentioned cylinder walls, so I think he was talking about sleeving... So basically piston/rods/sleeves which = mucho money.

ya lol sleeving is around 1g and then pistons and rods are about a 1000 too, plus machine work et cetera et cetera, it adds up so ******* quick its rediculous...

.....Which will destroy your motor without tuning. You can run 12 psi on a stock block if you have a good tune. I just got done ripping my B16 out of my EM1 because I blew it up on 7psi. Uberdata not tuned properly +7psi=#2,3,4 piston ring lands busted. As far as your cylinder walls cracking on you......that should be the least of your worries. The ring lands on your stock pistons are the weak points. All it takes is a little bit of detonation and they're through. So make sure once you get your turbo put on you get it tuned properly by somebody that knows what the hell they're doing.

Re: (IslandSi)
Your stock block will be okay for low boost. Just need to make sure that it's tuned. I boosted 20K on my stock block at 13psi...broke 3 ringlands. Rebuilt now with forged pistons and rods. Stock sleeves are plenty strong enough.
