b16 exhust heat sheild painting
Hi guys,
I have just painted my b16 valve cover, and plaaning next to paint the exhaust heat sheild beacuse it look like a $hit.
any body got any idea how to remove the heat sheild?
I can see 3 bolts, its just by removing these bolts? and will it be easily installed back?

but isnt the heat sheild made of 2 parts?
Those bolts are attached to what? anyway guess i will try, removing them will not be hard job, if i got any troubles installing it, i will get back here.
ummm, what would look better, Black or silver!!

The visible portion of the heat shield just bolts directly to the exhaust manifold - there isn't a second part.
Whatever you want to paint it. We aren't going to give you stylistic advice for your car.

I suggest getting a wire wheel/brush and knocking off the grime and oxidation. Then get some sand paper and sand out the scratches. Then get some polishing compound (rouge and then mothers) and polish it to a spectacular shine finish.
It will slowly turn to **** again, but this is the life of a semi-corrosive alloy that spends its life at excessive temperatures.
Off the shelf paint will look like **** also, even the "high temp" enamel. Elbow grease is free and will last longer and look better in my opinion
