Default b16 del sol

I am thinking of doing a engine swap in my del sol si. I was considering the b16a1 which I belive is the same performance as the b16 civic si's. Is this correct? What is the difference bettween the a1 a2 etc? What car is the a1 originally out of and what do you expect a del sol to run with that engine? Thanks for the input.

Technically, there isn't a B16A1. People just use the "A1" to indicate that the engine is from an '88-'91 SiR.

The B16A2 is the engine that's in the Civic Si and the '96-'97 del Sol VTEC. The difference between this engine and the B16A1 is mainly that the A2 is an OBDII engine.

I GTech'ed my car stock at 15.56 and 15.65. Somewhere around mid to high 15s is what you should expect.

Actually the way I understood it is that the "B16A1" is from the JDM 88-91 Civic SiR 1, which has a cable clutch, as opposed to "B16A2", from the JDM 92-00 Civic SiR 2, which has a hydro clutch, and slightly higher (10.4 as opposed to 10.2) compression ratio pistons. I might be mistaken though.

I have a 97 del sol Vtec and it came with an A2. I've seen 94s with the A3. I never really understood that one. Anyways my car ran 15.3 in the 1/4mile with an intake, catless, and exhaust. Added a DC 4-2-1 and took off the ps belt and ran 14.9.

Isn't that what I just said?
