Ok so since my wife wont agree to me getting a harley she has agreed to let me do a motor build for my 00 SI..i bought a B16 Bare block off of craigs list to start the process for 50 bucks...and before anyone says put an 18 in it i was going to but i was going to go big with a 18c5 but it was to expensive...now that i am building this as money comes in it will be a project and not an over night deal...My question for you guys is..how would you build this b16...IE: all motor or boost, with a 16 head gsr head or type r head if possible just things like that i am sending the block to get it broed out and sleeved with darton sleeves...all input is greatly appriciated

if you decide to boost the car then you should get a daily driver. many things can go wrong with boost....

after the sleeves just slap some forged pistons, rods, and head studs in there then focus on the turbo kit itself, you should get a HP goal in mind and build a kit around that goal - ive seen plenty of B16 tests in magazines where completely stock B16's put down over 500 whp and B16's with pistons and rods put down over 700 whp so id say keep it simple and aim for a certain WHP goal and remember dont cheap out on the tuning thats whats gonna get you to the HP level you want and it will also keep your motor running for more than your first few 1/8th mile runs hahah

oh yeah your gonna need a stronger clutch as well to handle the extra power and depending on how wild the build gets you may need some head work and some upgraded axles

im def going to boost it and like i said im goin to do it right its not going to be an over night build it will be my daily driver for about 6 months or so then i plan on getting another car to be my dd i would like to get about 350+ to the wheels if possible..those numbers seem a little high for stock componets but we'll see what i get

350 is plenty for a dd. Your car weights close to nothing remember.
Your going to have traction issues as it is. If your going totally stock components i wouldnt push that but im not personally familiar with b16+boost

im not going with stock internals..everything is going to be forged..im sending the block out in about a month or two to get it bored out and sleeved

get the lower end balanced also. What is the hp goal?
with a sleeved, forged pistons and rods block.....450+ will be easy. It's all on how much power do you want.

if your boosting it, get an ls manual transmission, the longer gear ratio will allow the turbo to spol more and get the performance out of the boosted motor.

a standard b16 head (pr3-X) will suit you fine with a cam upgrade, just dont cheap out. rebuild the head with new valve seats and guides. a gsr head wouldnt be bad it gives you a lower compression and if you are c\buying everything for turbbo anyway, pick the proper match with your rods and pistons.

a better intake for the motor will be necessary. anything above stock and anything aside from taking a rotozip to your stock one is good. it comes down to personal preferance and what you can find.

bigger injectors are necessary. i try and install injectors that work at around 75-80% duty cycle. so for 350 hp at the flywheel (sorry cant figure at the wheels) your looking at 700cc to 750cc injectors.

NOW for the nearly most important add on to a turbo set up, the ecu. get an ecu that can be tuned. hondata is the name in this market right now. there are other companies that can do the same thing for cheaper, but these guys willl give you the best idea for whats out there. please do not waste your money on an ecu that is already tuned or having someone chip your ecu "fo cheap".

they make 84 and 85mm sleves for the b16. bumps displacement to around 1.7 or 1.75 liters

NOOOO dont fall victim to the boost!! lmao. nah but boosting is cool im just an all motor guy, and if u want to make this a project id def all motor that 1.6 and make it a beast. complete toda valvetrain and stroker kit! and then go auto x that beast and enjoy a job well done.

i wont get anywhere near the amount of hp i want if i do an all motor build tho...thats what i was originally going to do but started to lean more to the boost build lol im still up in the air

ofcourse u wont get anywhere near the amount of hp. unfortunately Hp isnt everything. boost is great but it does have its disadvantages. heat issues, oil issues, lag issues i can go on. all motor theres nothing like instant throttle response

ur right its not everything but with out it you cant expect to be winning anything either..im still in the air with the block i want too i got the b16 block for 50 bucks just bare like i said...but i might get an 18 block and build it up..decisions decisions lol

All Motor is very dependable, you can run them hard and they last. Not as much stuff to break.

forged stroker kit N/A........make it a 1.8, 11:1ish compression, custom cams, and turn it 9k. I/H/E, manifold, TB.
AND a good solid tune

Boost boost boost, thats just me though. B16 heads are known for floating valves under hi Psi. but u said u dont whant crazy number so, build it and boost it. In 3 months im gettin my turbo set up and i will be pushing 15 psi through a T3/TO4E turbo. yyeeaaahhh!

not yet, but i do know that eagle makes good quality stuff......BUT dont get a balanced kit, get an unbalanced kit and have it balanced by good shop.
