You don`t just drop in cams, you need gears + tuning. So there`s another $600-____ (total)you can put towards a 1.8.

Btw, I`ll say it again, b16 in a light eg is "fun", but a b16 in an ek is a pig.

I know the GSR is a better motor, but i've seen b16's with CTR cams beat stock GSR's a million times. A stock GSR motor ain't shiet.

1.8 or go home? I could of picked the GSR, but i didn't want to spend a grip load of money on a damn Civic. I had a limit on how much i would want to spend on my Civic and the b16 was the perfect choice. I would only get a GSR or a Type-R if i got a really good deal on it. A b16 is good enough for me unless you plan on building a drag racing Civic.

Had the b16 sir II in my 92 gsr (blew my b17) and I loved it! had all the bolt ons, was quick and fun. My brother also had a EF with a B16 in it and I loved driving that thing too.

This is a very old thread. That being said, I'll chime in with my 2 cents. The B16 engine is terrible for daily driving. It's gutless anywhere below 4500rpm, the transmission keeps the RPMs high on the highway, and it's really only fun when you rev it out, which you can easily do in a B18C or in a properly built B18b or B20. Add VTEC to either of those and even if it WAS a contest before, it's a contest no longer. More displacement = better, period.

Both of these post are from 2002.

It is highly unlikely you will see any response from either of these users as odds are they don't visit this sight anymore after 14 years.....

If you have questions for old users/posts, please PM the user to see if you get a response.

Thread being closed to be put back to rest. Thanks.
