Default b16 to b16a head swap

by swapping a b16 head for a b16a head woudl this be hard and expensive, would i have to get a new ecu to mangae vtec?

huh??...b16 to b16a??...b16a is in the b16 categories. I think you need to do tons of researching

its the same thing dude. obd1 motors benefitted from .2 points compression bump and slightly more agressive cams. keyword being slightly.

Did you mean b18 head?(I noticed in your sig you own a '00 teg)

If that is the case, do a search for ls/vtec. This has been covered hundreds of times.

If you by chance you meant d16 to b16, it wont bolt on.

oh no its a b. theres a guy intown that has a b16 non vtec for 500 with 70k on it, but yeah im not familar with obd and sir. ive ben reding but never figured those out, but i want to get a b16a head, wich is vtec, right? this motors going into the civ. i got a b18a n the teg. stock tho. if i was to do this woudl i have to get a new ecu to manage the vtec

Settle down there big shooter. All b16 heads are vtec. There is some work to mating a vtec head to an ls block, but it can be done reliably if no corners are cut. Search "lsvtec" or "ls-vtec" or "crvtec" to find out more.

Also, you said you have a b18a motor, but your sig says you have an '00 ls. Assuming you have the stock engine, its a b18b.

no theres no b18 in this picture, thats a different car, im talking about buying that motor, but ill have to take another look at it, i loked at it and it didnt say vtec so i didnt mind looking at the tag (i guess thats what youd call it) but thanks tho. sorry on my part of stupidy

well you might wanna look at the engine code then look at the cylinder head code to be sure that its legit

block codes for b series vtec
b16
b18c
b17

The owner could have shaved the valve cover. Mine doesn't say VTEC or DOHC on it either.
