b16 128 whp ??

Default b16 128 whp ??

ive got a 00 civic ex with b16 bottom gsr head .. skunk 2 stage 2 cams exhaust retarted 2- and intake side a 0, edelbrok cam gears, dont know what vavle spring and retainers but not factory, skunk 2 intake manifold, type r 65mm throttle body, pro 1 header with 2.5 all the way back to muffler, msn cap, coil, and 8.5 wires ... this car is making only 128 Whp .. n e ideas what could be the problem ? could the head be clogged with carbon buildup and not causeing it to flow right ? .. weve check alot except for tearing it down. weve also played with crome and did some timing adjustments and fuel .. and it just dont have n e power .. vtec kicks in and its just louder and dont pull like it should .. lmk thanx

hmm did you do your homework before the build??? if it is an all motor application you have to do your homework some parts work better then others way better then other it all depends on the set up and what parts are there as far as i can see its a decent setup mabey comprestion test it allso its a b16 it doesnt have much potential for a allmotor application accept for the reall money spenders build for boost and that thing will rip why did you put a gsr head on there?

Put the B16 head back on it and swap the internals (upgraded) from the GSR To the B16 head, it'll breathe easier.

But even so, your numbers shouldn't be that low . Almost sounds like a bad tune.

That's retarded. With unmodified head castings, the P72 should make more power than the PR3 because of the higher compression ratio.

What dyno was this measured with? Mustang, Dynojet, Dynapack? What is the elevation? Are all of the dynamometer correction factors correct? Have you done a compression and/or leak-down test?

Posting the entire dyno chart could help, rather than just the peak number.

128 was on dyno i think it was dynojet or maybe mustang .. but ive got a buddy here with a mustang dyno and we gonna redyno it and tune it the best we can .. havent done leakdown but compression on it was 200 195 200 and 205 and stock is supposed to be 186 right ? the bottom end has 30k on it with oem parts it was dyno before the throttle body and all msd .. would it make more power with gsr cams tuned right ? ive also had alot of ppl tell me that ? to me it shoul make what around 160 170 ? could the head be clogged with carbon build up and not allow it to flow right ?this block with another gsr head with factory valve train with type r cams made 174 in a hatch. im farly new to this so bare with me ive got some good ppl behind my back helping me so im learning so lmk thanx

b16/type-r head flows better than the GSR, which is the only difference between the GSR and R, 5whp.

the .20 compression difference is like 1whp, 10.28:1 vs 10.53:1, big whoop.

Get rid of the msd and sell it. Buy a oem ignition and a retune.

umm shut up...


honestly just use whatever head you have....there isnt' anymore flow between the heads....one flows more then the other in "differnt" areas.....the GSR head is doing just fine and its not the reason he's so low on power....so **** and moan about something else...

Yea the b16 head will be more benificial for those really high revs.

wasn't telling him which to use, its just my pet peeve when people talk like they know what they're talking about when I personally know they are wrong. i've got an LS/vtec, with a GSR head. why? because I had a GSR head already when I got the LS.
