Default B-series Transmission stripped mainshaft

I have a bad GSR tranny and a B16 tranny with a stripped main shaft. Can I take apart both trannies and switch the mainshafts? Are both mainshafts the same? I also want to use the GSR 5th gear in the B16, will that be a problem? Thanks.

Are both trannies hydro?

Don't hold my feet to the fire, but I do think you can swap mainshafts. What's wrong with the GSR tranny?

Yes, both are hydro. The GSR tranny is making some cranking nose whatever in gear and above 2k rpm.

Think the mainshaft (inside gearing) is damaged due to stripped outter part (clutch part)?

So you want to use the B16 tranny with a GSR main shaft and fifth gear? Why not just rebuild the GSR tranny?

Because I have two trannies sitting in front of me and parts are there. I would rather buy another tranny than rebuild.

I hear ya. The best way I can tell you to see for sure if you can switch mainshafts is to go to hondapartsonline and acurapartsonline and compare mainshaft bearing sizes...then if they match you should be able to interchange.

Sounds like a plan. Would anyone know if the internals would be damaged with a stripped mainshaft?
