not sure what you mean totally, are you thinking about running a b18with a gsr tranny or do you mean running the b18c (gsr motor)complete swap? more info would be good but from what i understand, not many guys are too happy with b16 and its lack of tq.

Re: B series swap questions!! (jameskersten1)
i am talking about a B18 or B20 with a gsr tranny. i have a d16z6 I/H/E and my best has been 14.9 and constant is 15.2. i am just asking if it is worth the money to do the B-series or build what i have???

Re: B series swap questions!! (single cam vtecn)
As far as where to begin...CRV swap (b20 nonvtec) and get vtec head, or Integra Ls (b18b nonvtec) and get vtec head OR TURBO (best gains from turbo), or go GSR right away, or go Civic SI (b16a) and eventually get bigger block (either sleeved and bored out or just swap bottom end for gsr or ls, for the extra 1/5 liter displacement..
and, that's not all, HOW FAR DO YOU WANNA GO WITH PROJECT??
300 hp? that can be done decently safe on stock block (with good air/fuel control and good knock sensors and good timing)...OR do you want 400+hp, that will require a built bottom end..
anyway.there are many ways to go..i would say start with either the b18b nonvtec (integra ls) swap, they are less than $1800 (plus shipping) and whenever you get $3000 after that, get a FULL TURBO kit like ME, and get 300+whp safely..AND THEN PLAN to get a BUILT BLOCK (i'm getting my turbo, and block from Spark Racing, i think it's $2700 (and you don't have to have core exchange).
Then, you can get a BUILT VTEC HEAD (i'm also getting this from Spark Racing, $1750)...with a sweet turbo kit, built block, and built vtec head..you will walk down sports bikes (except those damn 999 ducatis) and Vipers, z06s, etcetc...
just my 2 cents..but DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT in the end before buying stuff.
If you started with a GSR Swap, it would cost you atleast $3500 (plus shipping), and this would be good if you just wanted to stop at 300 wheelhorsepower, but if you wanna go above this, you'll have to replace the block (or core exchange it for from a more expensive engine builder) AND fully replace everything in head anyway (CAMS, springs, retainer, guides, VALVES, everything will have to be replaced for high horsepower...).
you can see where IT CAN GET REALLY EXPENSIVE..
but, if you do it right:
$2000 for A GREAT 92-95 civic hatch
$2100 for integra LS swap INCLUDING SHIPPING
$3000 T3/t04e turbo kit with EVERYTHING you need for 300 whp
at this point, you can own most stuff on the road, especially if you strip interior
then later
$4500 fully built vtec RACE head and fully built race block (no longer 1.8 liters, now 1.9+ liters, and it should be good up to very high horsepower and boost)
$1000 or so for all the little extras that you know you'll want or need in the end
at this point, you will walk anything down, though you may need to upgrade turbo, cuz it'll max out around 450 (though, i'm wondering if you can use NOS to gain increased powers when turbo max's..but this max be what blows up engines..it's a guess to me )
well, obviously you won't have much problems beating much on the road, and enjoy the pleasure of getting 30 miles per gallon
later

i agree completely. only those prices are a bit inflated, u can get ur **** way cheaper if u really look for it. for instance, i got my b18b (70k)complete swap minus the tranny for $1200 and picked up a 98 gs-r tranny with less than 30k for 700 shipped. thats a grand total of 1900 and my tranny kicks all other full b18b swaps asses. look for deals, and get a better tranny trust me, do it while u can w/o sellin ur stock one and having a bunch of trouble. just find a swap and tell them u want it w/o the tranny, then find one of the like 8 gs-r tranny's for sale here on h-t at any given moment, and pay the $70 shipping because it will be worth it my friend

Even for N/A I would do a single cam. Know why? Cause with some A1 pistons, good cam, and bolt ons you will smoke B16 and even GSR swaps for less $ and they won't know what the hell happed when they see an all-motor SOHC under the hood.

Re: B series swap questions!! (nextelbuddy)
A1 pistons??? did they come out of the 1st gen integra?? like the usdm zc? what compression u think that would put me at?? i got some B18B rods from an old blown motor of mine and i was told that they could fit with some milling. would it be worth the time to get the A1 pistons and the ls rods in a d16? that sounds bad ***!! thanx

Check out Builthatch. He made 164whp on his Y7 NON-VTEC with the A1 piston and Delta cam setup. Considering that this motor weights 100 lbs less than a GSR that makes only 6-10whp more, do the math yourself. Imagine what it could do with a Y8.

Yes, they come out of the older tegs. It would put you at about 12:1 with a Y8.
