b-series swap question..
ive searched around and found no real info if it will work..
today i picked up a b16a block with 40k miles on it. the head bent valves and snapped a cam (dont know how lol) anyways.. so i got this block for basically free.. traded **** i never used/played
for the complete block with extra oil pan and crank pulley i traded this stuff:
xbox 360 wifi adpapter, 3 battery packs, hdmi cable, 4 never played/will play games, and some 92095 indiglo gauge faces.
now another friend of mine has a complete b18b1 ls head with 120k miles on it looks fresh still. motor was babied for the entire life lol.
anyways.. friend of mine is gonna trade me it for some more crap i'd never use..wont go into detail..
so would this block+head combo work? what would i have to change out/add on and what timing belt would i use.. also what dizzy.
this is just going to be a pro-longed project build that i might throw in a shell if i found one cheap enough.
it'd just basically be a N/A swap..

Re: b-series swap question..
honestly, I doubt that it would work, If I was you I would save up and just buy a b16 head for the shortblock and have a whole b16 engine...

i would like i'd really would love to but being in new orleans.. pricing of anything b series is expensive as **** unless you got a friend like i do who really wants something that im not using lol.
and i just got my dd back on the road after a month of total swap and buying all fuses, relays, sensors, injectors, fuel pump.. etc.. this dd killed me bad lol.. buts its running now just needs some body work and paint and she'll be good to go now
but yea.. being b series swaps or heads/blocks go for around $200-1800 around here and me being always broke trying to get my dd hooked up. really dont have much money to play with at all lol.

If it has B16a with no number after the a its from japan.
Any block with a number after the a is usdm.
And I wouldnt put that head on, it same piston clearance but the B16 block has less stroke unlike the B18 block.

Re: b-series swap question..
no head to rebuild lol. the head was junk so the previous owner (before my friend) though so he trashed it
i know right.. I've got it listed forsale maybe it'll go quick.. if the ls head won't work right then might aswell sell it to someone who will put it to good use right? i mean even if i got a head for it i'd still sit there for at least 6 months before i even got enough to hone and rebuild it. (i always rebuild my swaps even if they were working pulls)

yea but thats only if i get the ls head.. not sure if i want to or not though. i can always just rebuild my d15b7 or d15b8 and make a vitara build with boost if i wanted lol.(some see 400-600whp on d series vitara boost builds. and then its a direct drop in :p no need to buy shift linkage and other **** lol

Re: b-series swap question..
b16a block and a b18c1 block pretty much going to be the same kinda stuff, but you won't have any power out of it considering the b16a comes with 170hp and 116ft lbs of trq, then the b18b1 comes with 142hp and 128ft lbs of trq, the b16 just wouldn't run right with no vtec.
