I've had my 1996 Del Sol Si (D16y8 EH6 chassis if I am correct) for quite a few years. I want to swap in a B16, but I have hear testimonials from different people. I am wondering what would be a better install, the B16 out of the 92-95 EG2, the 16 from the 96-98 EK4, or a first gen b16? I was thinking about an ITR but would be completely happy with a simple B series build. I have scoured through Hmotorsonline and found each engine setup that contain parts for a complete swap. Money isn't an issue, and the most I plan to do with this engine is 10 psi boost. Again, thank you for any info. You can provide.

Arg. 10psi doesn't mean anything. It's an arbitrary number.

Like grumble said, "10PSI" means nothing. 10PSI through a T2 is a LOT different than 10PSI through a GT70. One will give you next to nothing - the other will shatter your motor in more places than you can count.

The best motor choice for you depends heavily on your goals, and what you're willing to do. Since you want boost, you'll need to convert to OBD1. You have two options. Option 1: Get an OBD1 motor, as well as the complete wiring harness and ECU, and completely convert your car to OBD1. Very labor-intensive. Option 2: Much more common. Get an OBD2A motor (an Integra LS or GSR motor would actually be ideal for you) and swap it in. Everything should plug right in. Get a P28 ECU that has been chipped and basemapped/tuned for the motor. Get an OBD1 to OBD2A jumper harness. Plug everything in and go.

Ok, dismiss my notion of psi or turbos my bad. I've been going through the forms for the past couple days now that I finally have an opportunity to swap in a B16. I wasn't fortunate enough to pick up a del sol with a b series motor, and I hear people saying good things about the a1, a2, and the a3. Aside from motor mounts I am trying to make up a shopping list of parts that I will need to purchase that will not come with the package swaps from Hmotorsonline. Again, an info you can provide is appreciated

B16s are torqueless. Would have been a nice platform to boost though. Try a larger displacement engine since you're going to swap anyway.

Thank you for the idea of staying OBD2; I'll look more into PnP and whatever I can't wrap my head around I will ask. Thanks guys!

There's nothing different between swapping in a B16 and a B18. If you haven't bought the swap yet, there's no reason not to get a B18A1/B1/C1/C5. Only thing you'll need, mount wise, is the rear T bracket mount from a B series equipped Del Sol. You'll also want to verify that your driver's side motor mount is the same (2 bolt vs 3 bolt).

B-series lower front (torque) bracket
DEL SOL VTEC or CRV AC compressor bracket (to retain AC)
...and all of the little nut/bolts/basic tune-ups parts for the engine.

I would recommend a B18C1 or 5 OBD2 motor with the matching OBD2 ECU. Much easier from an emissions stand point

BTW...I only recommended the B18C motors because you already have a vtec equipped harness and everything will hook right up

A B18B will hook up as well, but you will have some plugs left over

It would be preferable so I'm glad that I am able to find a couple sites that provide complete swaps. Being that this is going to be my first swap all the info you guys are providing is greatly appreciated. Not sure about shipping times to Germany for engines, but I can still get the bay prepped
