Re: b series idle issue
you check your Intake and exhaust cams to make sure they centered correctly?
So its just high Idleing cold and warm at a stand still correct?

Re: b series idle issue
Is the PCV hose from the valve cover attached to the intake manifold? If it is take the hose off the manifold and plug the inlet to the manifold with your finger. If the idle goes down it is prolly the PCV valve. I know that will make the the car idle high cold or warm.

Re: b series idle issue
I dunno if I unplug my IACV my car won't even idle. I don't have the coolant lines going to mine so.....car just needs to warm up when it's really cold.

Re: b series idle issue
After cleaning the IACV you should reset the idle.
Things to check when setting idle speed:
MIL indicator (no check engine light)
Ignition timing
Spark plugs
Air cleaner
PCV system
Follow these steps:
1. Start the engine and hold at 3000 rpms till radiator fan comes on and let idle
2. Disconnect the IACV and EVAP purge control solenoid
3./4. If engine stalls, restart will holding the gas pedal slightly depressed
Stablize rpm at 1000rpms and slowly release the pedal till engine idles
Do not run any accessories
Idle speed should be:
B18B1 M/T 480 +/- 50 rpms
B18C1 M/T 480 +/- 50 rpms
B18C5 M/T 550 +/- 50 rpms
If nessessary adjust idle speed screw
After adjusting idle speed check timing, if out of spec adjust ignition timing and go back to step 2
Turn the car off
Reconnect the IACV and EVAP purge control solenoid then reset ECU
Restart and idle engine for 1 min, check idle speed
Idle speed should be:
B18B1 M/T 750 +/- 50 rpms
B18C1 M/T 750 +/- 50 rpms
B18C5 M/T 800 +/- 50 rpms
*Note if idle speed increases 820/850 +/-50 rpms (B18B1/B18C1) it means the EVAP system is purging the canister. Raise the rpms above 1000 rpms and let off the gas slowly
