Re: (iLOVEmyEMone)
Getting bar'd is not as hard as people make it out to be, just have the right parts and your set. Why pick up and leave for something so small?

As long as its the same year as the block youll be fine. But you need the intake manifold as well.

i think it would be possible. besides, how would they know which head goes to what? the identification is on the block that they look for. to tell you the truth, if you already have a si, just swap the block and go on your merry way. it looks the same as your stock si b engine.

The vin on the block tells the yea, then on the head theres the year, so theyll know if its a 93 block with a 98 head.

many people have pass JDM gsr, and my friend passed his 95 hatch with a 2000 C1 block and a 97 gsr head...............
Like I said, if you could pass Emission then you'll pass the bar.
gsr bock+B16 head= higher compression>high Nox

Ive passed my JDM GSR, whats your point?
Pass with a GSR block and a B16 head then you could have proof. Ive talked with refs many times about hybrids, CRVs, CRVTEC in hondas and they all say the same, they wont pass.

I've seen that too...but I think he passed BAR first, then went LS VTEC, and just having a sticker for it so when he goes to get smogged w/ his LS/Vtec he wont have a problem.

Re: (Luserkid)
when doing a visual inspection, they check for the serials #'s on a block to make sure they are not stolen, not checking to make sure you have the same block and head but mostly they are making sure everything is hooked up.

Your kidding right? Have you ever gone to the ref for BAR? You do know that the year of the motor is stamped into the serial right? The year is the by far one of the most important thing about BAR. They dont just check the head.

Re: (Luserkid)
I'm majoring in Auto-Tech, I have ran the smog analyzer many times and yes, I passed my gsr hatch at the Ref last year.
your right about the year, the motor gotta be newer than the car. they can find out what the year on the head but they can't tell what kind of head it is.

You have no clue what you speak of, do you? I've been to the ref many times. I've spoken directly to them. They could give two ***** about the year of the HEAD. I passed my 92 B17 in my 93 CX with an 89 head no problem. Go ahead and just TRY to tell me how that one works? My guess is you can't becuase you THINK you know more then you really do about the laws... The B18c1/B16 head combo WILL pass in terms of the "date check".. Its going to be more of a trick to get the right intake manifold and crap on there then it will be to get the year of the head to pass based on the date...

BAR = Bureau of Automotive Repair. So you don't "go to the ref for bar" you tool. You go to the ref to get a certification that you car meets all applicable laws for emissions/engine swaps. You obviously don't fully understand the laws either judging by your responses. False information is the last thing this place needs more of.

Show a BAR sticker for that and ill retract everything i said. Along with a B18c/B16 passing.
