Default b/m FPR install

man I cannot get this thing to act right

how far down do you cut the FPR and is there a way to tell if I went too far
I cut it exactly where the instructions said and it moves the pressure when I touch the damn thing

should be a large turn should be 1-2 PSI , mine goes up 5-10 just by tightening down the nut

I an have unlimited supply of stock regulators so I want to start over and need to know how far down to cut it , mine is flush with the top of the diaphram that adjusts the actually adjusts the pressure

anyone ?
