Default axxis pads smoking

got axxis mm itr fronts and went for hard drive and had smoke pouring from both fronts and i mean pouring. get mild smoke now and again after hard drivin and they really smell after bein pushed. is this normal ?

havnt done any track days yet but wonderin if i should upgrade to ultimates or somethin like project mu. problem is that its everyday driver so need good performance from brakes at low temps as well.

Did you clean the pads and rotors off with brake cleaner after the install? Some rotors come with an oil coating on them to keep from coroding during shipping, and if you don't clean it off, it will burn off while breaking them in, causing smoke.

mine started smoking on the track at an event and smelling like clutch fluid. they've really started to put some pretty deep scores on my rotors too

Yeah, after a couple of months they should be good and bedded in. The only thing I can think is outside contamination. Armorall, wheel cleaner, spray wax, blown out bearing seal flinging grease, CV Boot, (I know there's a cover on the back of the disc but CV grease seems to get everywhere when a boot tears), maybe uhhhhhh... brake line????

do you get brake fade at all? should be ok, smoking on the pads is a pretty normal occurence with my metal masters if you're pushing it, but i don't get much fade.

yeah, you should be good, with the itr/legend caliper, i'm sure you get better pad distribution as well. with my single piston si, i get a lot of pressure in one area and i believe that's what's leading to my rotor being beaten up. but check your rotors for any grooves or scores
