Axle Issues. Need Some HELP!
Im swapping in a LS motor into my EK sedan. I have the old motor pulled, except for the axles (why I left the axles in while I took the motor out, IDK, but its beyond the point here). There is NO MOTOR in the car right now, and I cant get the drivers side axle out.
I took off the axle nut, and hit it w/a hammer/mallet to try and tap it out. No go. Tried a huge sledge hammer. No go. As far as I know, your supposed to be able to just take the axle nut off, and tap the axle out w/a hammer.
Anyone ever have this problem with their car? Its a 2000 LX Sedan, w/130k on the frame, and its in really good condition for its age (almost NO rust under the car). Im gonna take the knuckle off tonight, and take it to a shop to see if they can press it out for me. I'll probably have to end up replacing the wheel bearing, but not a big deal.....
Im just wondering if Im the only one thats had this issue....

your not going to use the axle right? just take the whole thing of put in a vise and beat the sh*t out of the axle with a sledge. it has to come out. have had some that were hard to get out but never that hard.

Re: Axle Issues. Need Some HELP!
I have no intentions of saving the old axle, as I have a new one to replace it. The only thing I didnt try was heating it up. I let it soak in PBblaster overnight, and still nothing. I already have the knuckle off, so Im gonna bring it into work tomorrow and have a tech try and press it out. My brother-in-law, who's been working on cars for over 10 years, was helping me, and he said he's NEVER seen this happen before.

Re: Axle Issues. Need Some HELP!
if you heat it the wheel bearing will most likely be destroyed. i use a pointed bit inside a air hammer and hammer it in the middle where the little indent is. but idk if you have air tools or not.
