Re: axle-back and cat-back (TrickHonda77)
the catback will go farther up your *** then an axle back...the axle back is shorter ...catback from the cat alytic converter back....axleback is from the axle back

Re: axle-back and cat-back (TrickHonda77)
the names say it all...if you lay down under your car he stock exhaust (usually) have three or four sections (I know mine does Y7 I have a cat right off my manifold damn Y7). the first section runs from the cat to about where the front axle is (exact position varies)...in a lot of setups the cat will be location right after the first section...
The second section (again, depends on setup) usually runs from the cat or previous section to about the rear axle (many times this is where one of the resonators are placed.
The third section is from the previous section to the muffler or includes the muffler (ie, axle back)...cat backs usually include the second and third section of the exhaust including the muffler.
To answer your other question(simply cat back is better)...when buying any setup...always decide on your application. You need to make sure that the output flow of you engine, manifold or headers & cat match the flow of your cat back system
Hope that helps
