awwful Screeching Noise>>>HELP!
i drive a 95 civic ex coupe with no engine mods other than a strut bar and its dropped on eibach pro-kits, stock shocks, and 95 gsr rims. Today, i drove up to my garage and when i was driving, heard this loud metal grinding noise. IT was like to metal saw blades scratching each other, similar to 2 knives going against another. The noise is definatly on the front drivers side and seems to be coming from the wheel area. My clutch doesnt seem isnt slipping and the noise occurs during when i push in the clutch somemtimes, presssing gas a bit and letting off. Also, only happens in the beginning of first gear. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated. Sorry for the LONG post. Thanks

it could be ur throwout bearing, my car does the same thing too, the bearing is part of the clutch assemby. the bearing is relatively cheap but to get it installed is like replacing a clutch so the labor would be pretty spendy

Re: awwful Screeching Noise>>>HELP! (all stock)
does it sound like a metal shovel on concrete?
if so check your Dust Shield, it may just be rubbing on your rotor. just bend it back
allways check the cheap or free things first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wooooww this happened to me about 3 weeks ago!!! what a coincidence .. mine happened when i drove up my driveway and it started making that crazy squeaking noise. Took out my wheels, grabbed a flashlight and found a tiny rock stuck in between rotor & shield ... i thought it was my clutch/something worse i would suggest looking over the other side and clean the fender area so it won't happen again. man, i missed this thread ... i could've help

use a sheet of paper and move it up/down back/forth to get rid of the rock, and use compressed air to clean your rotor. make sure you're wearing a nose mask b/c asbetos isn't good for u. Mine was hella dirty
