AWD CIVIC??? CALL ME CRAZY!!!
I have decided to do something that will require a little more than your average bolt on turbo kit's worth of fabrication: an AWD conversion on a 2000 Honda Civic SI.
Currently:
B16a
Garret t3/t4 .60 10PSI
Water/Air intercooling
Ohlins 34-way adjustable coilovers
Poly bushings all around
etc etc etc
Has anyone successfully done this....
So far i know only of one option (and i dont like it)
B-20 CRV transmission is a 4wd unit. fairly weak with horrible gear ratios.
what would it take to fabricate a bellhousing and use a 2G DSM AWD transmission/drivetrain setup?
EVo8?
Basically im looking for a list of GOOD strong Transverse mounted AWD transmissions. please help compile. Call me a f*** moron... please.... i fabricate parts often i know what im getting into FULLY. (new rear suspension, hubs, custom axles all around, chassis flexing compensation, engine mounting etc etc. ) the whole car was going to come apart anyhow for stitch welding and a roll cage, its winter time figured i needed a project!
My goal is to have a boostlaunching capable B-series powered AWD civic that is under 3150LBS with fully built B18 turbo @25PSI and have it look pretty much bone stock.

You are not the first to think of this....so youre not crazy, just slow to the punch (very slow)
If you have to ask what it would take, you really shouldnt be trying to do such a thing - leave it to those who can understand it THEN give up on it because its not worth the time/effort

Go look in the hybrid section. There's a guy in there that did/is doing an "AWD Del slo" haha jk Del sol. Maybe try to get some ideas from him. The chassis is gona be a little different but, you said u do fab work so it should be no problem for you to take ideas from his work. It seems to be pretty well documented so, cheers. and good luck.

If i am not mistaken, at one point some civic ferios were offered in AWD in japan only, somewhere someone once posted the PDF of the brochure actually from japan, showing a listing of EG and EK civics, one of which was offered in an AWD transmission. Can anyone remember what im talking about? Im going to search and see if i can dig it up again somewhere.

Missed that part, yes!, im not crazy, i did see that at one point, lol.
As for putting a DSM motor into a civic... I dont see why it couldnt be done, given you have an exuberant amount of cash, time, knowledge and creativity.

You can, but some modifications must be made to the car itself (civic or integra) to accomodate a drive shaft, rear differential, ect,.. well, you get the point. I used to read articles of this back in 2000-2001 in superstreet and import tuner of people doing such mods.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I just saw the vid of the 91 hb with the wagovan awd trans and a 400 whp d16z6...
Maybe you can go H2D and use the wagovan setup... That would be epic
