average cost of your B18B1 engine swaps
 

hey all, im putting a B18B engine in my 94 civic, it was just a shell and im trying to figure out what everything will cost to put in the car and get it running so if you could all give me how much it cost for your swap so i can have a general idea i would really appreciate it. thanks a lot, matt

from what ive seen them go for..about 1300-1700.. or even 2000 somtimes..and thats complete and "supposely" in good condition..dont know the condition till you get it nah mean..

that really depends on where you get the motor from and how complete it is, also if you are doing the swap yourself or having a shop do it. but heres a break down as i see;

if you went with a whole swap from a website such as Hmotorsonline.com,

complete changeover - 2200.00, shipping to a residence -350.00, a new oil filter and 5 quarts of oil (depending on what kind of oil you use) roughly 10.00, you also need radiator fluid - roughly 5.00, your going to need a few quarts of 10w30 for the tranny so thats like 3 dollars. some brake fluid for bleeding out your clutch slave cylinder - 2 bucks, add in a few more dollars for wire loom and butt connectors. you would probably be looking at around 2,570.00 but of course this is ESTIMATED. you are also going to want a few extra dollars laying around for trips to the junkyard, not every motor comes perfect, i had to find a new tps sensor and they also sent me a wrong axle one time.

If you peiced together your own swap;

ls longblock roughly 800.00
ls tranny roughly 650.00
ls ecu anywhere from 50-150
shift linkage is usualy around 50-75 dollars
axles brand new are like 60 a side, from the junkyard maybe 20-30
mounts can add up quick, so if you can get a ls long block with all of the motor mounts already attached. but if this isnt so, from the dealership the mounts can be pretty damn expensive.
your also going to need a clutch seeing as how the tranny and block arent assembled, stock clutches are pretty easy to find but if you already have the 2 seperated you might as well go ahead and upgrade so you figure about 350-400, figure around 750-800 for the clutch & flywheel combo, if not a stock flywheel can be found for 15-20 bucks.

this is really harder to add up than the swap mentioned from hmotors, if i were you, save yourself the headache and go ahead and buy the whole swap complete if possible.
