Automatic transmission, loose first , then fourth after its warm ?
Hello,
Hoping someone knows a lot about automatic transmissions. Tried going through the manuals to troubleshoot, but were not that helpful.
Specifications about car.
* 1996-2000 Honda Civic , with regular automatic transmission ( NOT CVT ).
*aprox. 120,000 miles
*Transmission flushed twice in the past 3,000 miles ( see if it was the problem ).
With Honda OEM ATF, and vavoline high mileage atf ( equivalent/replacement for honda
oem ATF )
*This automatic transmission has 4 speeds ( 1st,2nd,3rd,4th) then reverse
Car drives fine for the first 15-30 minutes ( all 4 gears work ), then it looses first gear, it wont catch till 4000 rpm from a stop.
After 30-50 minutes of driving It will also loose 4th gear . ( so 2nd and 3rd are the only gears left ). ( not good driving on the highway at 5000 rpm going 55 miles per hour ).
Any one have any advice, Im going to swap the transmission, but would like to know whats causing this, ( damaged solenoids, torque converter, a seal somewhere )
thanks for the help
