Default Automatic Transmission "HELP" needed please.

I have a 97 Honda Civic DX sedan 4 speed automatic. I had a problem with the car idling up and down continuously from 1k to 2k. I took the throttle body off and cleaned every up and it stopped. However, now when it goes to shift into 3rd-4th gear it revs up to 4k and shifts really hard into the next gear. I've tried some lucas transmission fix but it didn't work. Also it idles a little above the one now as well. What could be causing this?

Never use oil additives. Especially on Hondamatics, which REQUIRE Honda ATF.

Your idle issue isn't related to the auto tranny. Search the fluctuating idle threads.

For the tranny, I would first flush it and then put Honda ATF in. Then I would try adjusting the throttle kick down cable. Maybe you'll get lucky.

I was told by Honda that my transmission doesn't have a filter that can be changed.
