automatic tranny flush.......searched
Alright, so in a couple days i'm getting an oil leak fixed, so i figured i'd flush the tranny as well. I've been reading a lot of stuff about this though and have basically seen that if your tranny has a lot of miles on it (mine has 140K) I shouldn't flush b/c everything is going to come loose.....
So i'm really not sure what to believe, others say the flush isn't that intense and it'll come through just fine. What do you guys think, should I flush it to get all that gunk out, or just have them change the fluid?
Idk if fluid has ever been changed or flushed, this is a used car. I bought it a while ago, but i haven't done that service yet.

No it won't hurt it or knock anything loose, it's just out with the 140k mile oil an d in with the fresh HONDA ATF, that's all I would use when I had my bb4.

It won't hurt it. I did it on my old 93 twice within a couple months and didn't have any problem. Definitely get the Honda branded fluid from a dealership though.

should i have it flushed or just change the fluid out? It's a whole lot cheaper to just change fluid out, would it be worth the flush?

No, actually it's something called experience.
I had a car come in that hadn't had the ATF changed in 130,000 miles. The customer asked us to change the fluid, and we did. Honda Genuine ATF-Z1.
Car came back on a flatbed the next day with a trans that was slipping so bad it would barely move.
One service can't make up for a lifetime of neglect. If you haven't been changing the trans fluid regularly, then you may be SOL. You won't know what will happen until you have the trans flushed, so you might as well go ahead and do it because you'll have to replace the trans sooner or later anyway - but don't be surprised if it turns out bad. Consider it a bonus if it all works out right.
