Default Automatic shift boot..

I have a civic 2000 automatic. And was wondering if I can purchase a Type R shift boot(manual), and do a automatic shift **** conversion with the type r shift boot.
I heard it can't be done, because of the automatic tranny, but is this true? want some confirmation thanks... (will be swapping tranny later on though just wanna do this right now for looks)

Account for the added size of the A/T shifter flat surface, unsure if the boot will fit. As far as the ****, it'd have to hold down the lever at all times (risky, could be bumped to neutral from park etc) or have some sort of button or push mechanism to change from P/R/N/D/3/2. You'll near certainly need a universal-style shift ****, the type that clamps onto the shifter rather than threadding on like a traditional manual transmission shifter.

I have a CTR shift boot with the OEM shift ****. You just take off the plate by the shifter that shows the gears and the shift boot mounts to the console just like it would on a manual. Don't bother getting an aftermarket, automatic shift **** though. They all suck and never fit well.

Okay, so you're saying that a CTR shift boot WILL work with an automatic tranny correct?

I'm considering in getting the shift ****, but none the less, OEM automatic shift ****, or aftermarket, both will work with the CTR manual shift boot on my automatic tranny right?

A shift boot is just a piece of fabric or some other material. Just about any similar generation Honda/Acura shift boot will fit any other similar gen Honda/Acura car regardless of auto or manual.

What unsungheroes said. The shift boot is just a piece of fabric that mounts under the shifter console with 2 screws and two brackets that "clip in". It will fit the same, you will just be removing your plastic plate that has the A/T stuff on it. It won't change anything else on how your tranny works.

To get the boot to fit on the shifter you'll likely need to loosen the automatic ****, there's a screw on the driver side and it will come off. There is a spring and the push-in button to release it, make sure you put it back right after the boot is on the shifter.

As for using a manual ****: No.

Have fun, and sell your car and buy a M/T ASAP.
