Default Auto Trans?

My wife's 97 LX just ate the transmission. I've found a replacement but it's out of an EX. Are these a direct swap? Anyone ever done this? Does anyone know what the gearing ratio's are and if they're different? Will I run into any problems with the ECU wanting to shift the transmission earlier or later than it should?

Ideas, suggestions, anything will help...

Yes I did search.

So far as I can tell there are 2 different automatic transmissions for '96 - '00 civics and they seem to differ based on the year rather than the model. If its from a '96 - '98 it should work fine, even if its from a '99 - '00 I still highly suspect it will work, if its from a '92 - '95 it wont work.

Thank you much!!! After looking at hondapartsdeals.com the EX and LX have the same final drive gear part number. Traditionally, the final drive gear is the main difference between EX and any other trans so I think you're probably right on the money!!!
