Default Auto tranny swap from B7 to B7. Crank Stuck???

Well I am being nice and swapping my sisters blown B7 for my old B7. We are transferring the auto tranny from the old one to the new one. Well we torque everything to spec and follow all the directions, but when it came time to rotate the crank to get the drive plate bolts to torque converter on, the FREAKING CRANK WILL NOT TURN!!! What went wrong? Is it in park or something? I know the engines are the same for manual and auto so it's not like a bolt or something is keeping it from turning. We made sure we used the stubby drive plate bolts to and not the longer manual ones. I just don't get it. Is it possible to have it in gear or something as it doesn't rotate forward or backwards. Please someone help me out cause this is killing. Spent 5 hours on this thing with no luck .
