Auto Tranny locked up.
I bought a car off another guy and he said while he was driving the car died.
He then started the car but it would only run in 1-2 gears.
He said he treid to drive to a shop an dthen it died and wouldnt start.
I just checked an the crank wont turn and I used the shift relase thing with the key to put it to neutral and its no good.
What would the problem be? What should I check first?

it means the engine simply will not crank, regardless of the condition of the tranny, and you need a new one (or a very expensive rebuild).
Have you tried pulling the plugs and cranking it by hand? If you can't do it, it's probably seized.

I dont see why it wouldnt turn on, unless your shift cable is fucked up and it isnt in position, other than that i dont see why it wouldnt turn on man, Either you're not checking right, or your motor is pwned by gods mighty hand.

i pulled plugs and tried to crank by hand but no luck. I am removing the tranny next weekend to see if I can still turn the crank when the tranny is disconnected.

i dont' know if this will work, but have you checked the cables that connect to the tranny to see it has no slack and everything is tight? also check the the connection that determines what gear the tranny shifts into (check to see if the male tangs aren't bent or cover with oil/contaminated). who knows it can be an easy fix??
