is there anything that has to happen to the mount on the tranny side ? reweld a new mount or just swap the auto one with a 5sp. tranny mount ?

Re: Auto to stick :info needed: (LSturboHB)
you can either hack off yours and weld the proper mount or the easier way is, i think hasport makes a auto to manual mount.

Re: Auto to stick :info needed: (LSturboHB)
i don't remember if it is hasport or who it is that makes it but i know what of the mount company makes one. This for sure cause i have seen it in a car. Maybe someone else knows for sure. Later

dang. someone on here was saying they were going for 160 or something like that from place racing. check all the mount makers for it. it has to exist.

Re: Auto to stick :info needed: (deviant1)
i did an auto>5spd conversion a couple of months back, lets see what i can remember. you'll need the obvious parts like:
- shift linkage
- shifter
- all the bushings and dust seal
- clutch brake and gas pedal assembly
- clutch master cylinder
- clutch slave cylinder
- hydraulic lines
- engine wire harness (i think u can alter your harness but then again, it might be easier to get a vtec 5spd harness)
- a weld on tranny side mount from honda
- ecu
- and all the necessary bolts and stuff like that
in my opinion, if you are just doing the conversion and keeping the old motor, its not worth it but if you are changing out the entire motor, then its worth it. my friends and i dropped a b18c1 in my 2000 civic hx and it was pretty easy. there are some amounts of customizing. you'll have to weld the tranny side mount to the car (unless a company has a kit or something im not aware of).
also, on the automatic cars, there is a big "hole" where the shifter is, so when you are driving, mud and dirt will fly up where your shift boot is. you will have to make a "plate" and bolt it over the opening. the clutch assembly has pre-drilled holes already in the firewall so u dont have to worry about drilling. other than that, its pretty easy and straight forward, im happy with it. good luck and let us know how it turns out.
if you are keeping your old motor and just changing to 5spd, i highly suggest you wait and save up and get a dohc motor. imo, just changing to 5spd is a waste of money unless u swap out the motor as well. i dont know how much trannies cost but if u get a complete swap, it'll cost probably an extra 100-200 dollars to do the conversion.

Re: Auto to stick :info needed: (LSturboHB)
you only have to worry about the tranny mount in 92-95 civic i know cuz mine was auto 96-00 you'll use the mount thats necessary for that motor. if you look the mount on the frame rail will come off horizontal on the 5th gens the auto come up at a 15 degree angle.

lilxvtecxpwr: explain the dust boot more please. if you cut a metal sheet to go around the shifter that comes through the floor, wouldnt that obstruct the shifter when shifting gears?
anyone got pics of this tranny mount on 5th gen and 6th gen civics, in the car, with the engine, and tranny in it?

I know for a fact that on the 1992-1995 civics you need to cut off the frame mount and reweld in a manual one OR buy the HASport/Place mount.
BUT
I have *heard* that this is not the case for the 1996-2000 Civics. I've *heard* that the auto and manual Civis have the same mount on the frame, but I'm waiting for confirmation on this from someone who's already done this swap.
Sorry all I'm offering is speculation, but I cannot remember where I saw that info about the 1996-up stuff, but I did see it somewhere.

lilxvtecxpwr: so, there are two separate holes? or just one big one? if there is one, you just measure the standard dimensions from a 5-speed civic and use the metal sheet to fill the rest? it would be much easier if there were two holes so you could just plug up one of them. let us know and try to get those pictures.
thanks everyone!
